Episode 28: The Order of Odd-Fish

Hey everybody, it’s that long-promised episode of the podcast about James’s book! Ultimately, at James’s insistence, we recorded 4 ½ hours of material over two nights, and then thankfully he offered to cut it down himself, so this is the first ever James-edited episode!

James, your story of struggling to follow up ODD-FISH speaks to my very strong belief that 99% of the tools related to craft are explicitly designed for REVISION. Once learned, it's very difficult to write without these structure ideas in mind ... but they can be poisonous to the act of initial creation (In my experience, at least). I wonder if that's why so much of advanced storycraft falls into the realm of "unlearning."
